Default reverse buzzer is intermittent and obc light is on

I purchased a 48 volt 1997 CC DS to work on. The solenoid was bad so I put in another one and the cart works. I've driven it around in forward and reverse.

However, when I stop driving, after about 20 seconds the obc light comes on and stays on. If I start driving, it turns off.

I was able to get the cart to charge this afternoon when the light went out but now the light doesn't shut off so it won't charge.

I am worried that I may have but the diodes on the wrong way. I know which cables go to which side of the diodes but I may have put them on the wrong posts of the solenoid. If that was the case, would the cart even run?

Also, when I put the cart in reverse, the buzzer may or may not start working until after 30-60 seconds. I've tried moving wires and the micro switches but nothing seems to make it turn off/on.

Is this two separate problems or are they related? I am guessing it's the controller that is giving me the reverse buzzer problem.

Thanks,

Doug

the light or the diode shouldn,t have any effect on charging.....if cart won,t charge either batteries are to low for charger to come on you need 38 volts or you have another problem.............the diode should be on large post of soleniod and the silver band on it towards positve, can you use a voltage meter?...................................

I think the diode shud be on the small posts of the solenoid, silver band on positive side. 470ohm resistor should be on the large posts, and its not polarity sensitive.

This is a round solenoid, not one of the new square ones where the + is labeled.

I had a newer square one laying around so I put it in: same story. Car moves fine but the obc light is on so I must have wired the solenoid properly the first time.

The batteries are good. All are at least 8.32V.

I tried a different controller and the light came on but then went off. I am now able to charge it but I am skeptical as to whether or not the light stays off.

At this point, it must be the microswitch for the buzzer and probably the OBC for the light?

I have another f/r switch that I will replace this afternoon. I could just replace the microswitch from the entire switch assembly rather than replacing the whole f/r switch. We'll see how ducky I'm feeling.

I guess if the light comes on again, it must be a flaky obc.

Thanks,

Doug

if the cart is running and charging the OBC should be fine it could be a faulty light...............................

It turns out I didn't have a spare microswitches, only f/r swtich.

Upon closer inspection, one of the microswitches had one of its metal connections broken off in the wire connector so that is the cause of the reverse buzzer issue.

I am going to my local CC dealer tomorrow to buy some new microswitches and see if I can at least fix one issue.

I would say the light is faulty but the cart won't charge while it's on.

Thanks,

Doug

ok if it still not charging that has nothing to do with the light, i thought you were able to get it charging but if not theres a good chance its a bad OBC.......very common problem.............................

Well, the OBC issue issue is intermittent. I was able to charge it yesterday but then the light came back on and won't charge.

So being that it's flaky, I'm going to look for another OBC.

Thanks,

Doug

man i have to say this is really odd.............i have never seen a cart that wouldn,t charge because the light came on......never ever.........and being intermittant is a little odd but not unheard of................we,ll see with a new OBC make sure you post findings..........................
