Default Battery Question

I just bought a 2006 fleet CC IQ DS and the batteries are 2006 Trojans also. I tested them and they all are 12.25-12.50 each. Its that sufficiant or should I get new batteries? What would new batteries read? I am upgrading controller and motor soon and can not afford to upgrade batteries also. Can I use these batts for now?

Default Battery Question

I gotta ask........... Are you sure your cart is a DS? Are you sure your batteries are reading 12 volts? If it is a DS model, you should have 8 volt batteries that read a little above 8 volts. If you have a Precident, it will have 12 volt batteries. Just checking first......

Your batteries read 12V on a DS? How many batteries do you have?

Hey, He never says volts? SO, maybe he is giving specific gravity readings from 8 volt batteries.....
In which case they are good.

Lets just say there are 12 volt batteries in this "DS, IQ model cart" and you are taking a voltage reading and it is 12.25-12.5 volts dc per battery. If that is the case those batteries either need to be charged or they are junk. They should produce around 2.3 volts per cell. At 12 volts the battery is considered dead.

2.3 vpc X cc = obv....or in this case 2.3 x 6 = 13.8 volts

First off you should not have 12 volt batteres in a "DS, IQ cart"....at least not factory type. Someone could have placed trojan car batteries in there. Just because they say trojan on the side doesn't mean they are golf cart deep cycle batteries. If they are trojan 12 volt marine batteries your run time is gonna be real short. If in fact they are trojan 12 volt golf cart batteries then they would not fit in a DS battery tray......so it you are reading 12.25-12.5 volts then it sounds like you don't have golf cart batteries at all. You will never be happy with the performance and run time untill you get your battery issues sorted. The new motor and controller will make your run time even shorted. I would not go hunting.....unless you like walking.

Get a picture of these batteries and post them....the cart and the batteries would be even better.

I do believe the DS models in 06 started having 12v trojans as well, just as some of the 08 precedents now have 6 8v batteries again.

Yep...It is a 2006 CC DS IQ and it came with 4 12 volt batts. I bought it from the dealer so I assume it is correct bc they had 50 carts that were all the same. I did end up getting 6- 8 volt batteries for free since my 4 - 12 volts were bad and they were under warranty!!!

They should be good to go. Keep them half full with water and charge
them EVERY time you use them.
