Looks like I'm going to pay some serious stupid tax. Rick at PQ says my motor is history, a total failure. He said he can't believe it was running at all.
Now I'm going to send the controller to Alltrax to see if it is toast also.
Word to the wise, don't drive around with the motor hatch open if there is any chance of rain. If just one person learns from my mistake it will ease the pain a little.

After seeing a post with a similar problem I just realized I never updated this post with the final outcome.
After further assessment PQ determined that they could rebuild my motor for half of what replacing it would have cost. Alltrax also found something wrong with the throttle control on the controller. They replaced it under warranty in spite of the fact that I fully disclosed my boneheaded mistake of driving around with the motor hatch open.
I'm happy to report that the cart runs great now and I never drive around with the motor hatch open anymore.

Yea, water and electronics never mix, glad you got yours figured out.

My controller is totalally sealed, and water is not involved at all with my problems.

The only stupid question is the un-asked question. The motor hatch is the rectangular door in the top of the rear body behind the seat back that gives you access to the motor and motor controller when opened. It may have a different name but motor hatch is what I call it.

I know you did not mention water in your post. But it sounded similar enough to the problem I had experienced that I went and looked at my old post to see how good the pictures were of the motor damage. My thinking was it might not hurt to pull the motor on yours and inspect it. The motor on my series cart was pretty easy to pull. I don't know how different an IQ cart is. If you have not done so already, you might call the guys at PQ and ask them what they think. They were very helpful with me diagnosing my problem. They offered to check it out for me for free. I just had to pay the shipping. Good luck fixing yours.

I have not pulled nore spoken to anyone at PQ, last I heard they were slammed with buisness and I figured it ain't the motor, ( could be I guess), I posted the problem on the Flight Systems forum also. I can call Bobby @ PQ tomorrow and see what he thinks.

Are you saying that because you drove in the rain with your motor hatch open, the motor imploded into itself? WOW. I can see maybe having trouble with an Alltrax controller in rain, but the motor??

The motor was brand new. The folks at PQ told me that whatever happened to the controller caused the damage to the motor. If memory serves me correctly they told me the brushes shorted. The rain was only a problem for the controller. When the hatch is open the motor is still under the body but the controller is totally exposed.
