Default 1997 Electric Club Car chatters when pedal is pushed

When I press the pedal down all I hear is a chatter coming from somewhere. I think its the solenoid but, can't be sure. Can I jump the solenoid and check it that way? I know it needs batteries but, I need to make sure it will run first. Motor doesn't run with wheels jacked up. Motor tested good on 8v battery test.

chattering is a sign of bad batteries. if the motor runs and the cart does something when you press the gas, you're most likely gonna be good to go.

does the charger come on?

The new batteries will fix that. chattering means everything is working except there is not enough voltage to keep the solenoid contacts pulled up. Stop torturing it and get some new batteries put in it~ You will be good to go

I know it needs batteries but I thought it might be something else. Thanks everyone for you help. I had 48 volts from + to - and I thought it might be something else altogether. 3 batteries have only 6 volts. Thanks again
