testing speed controller resistor cart
I recently bought a 93 club car resistor cart. It needed new batteries, so I got it cheap. Little did i know the motor was bad. I sent the motor off to be rebuilt and now i would like to test the forward/reverse switch as well as the speed controller. I know virtually nothing about how these carts work. Any help would be appreciated!

Re: testing speed controller resistor cart
A cart that old may have been converted so forum needs to know which speed controller you have? there are two types normally used? BUT anything is possible?
1- White or silver colored box with red ends under drivers seat ( with 5 micros inside ) 2-V Glide ( pie shaped unit between batterys under drivers seat ) with 6 guage cables connected on back going to 5 solenoids with large coil resistors |

Re: testing speed controller resistor cart
Remove drivers side cover and inspect wiper arm brush for wear and spring for tension, then check condition of bar like contacts inside for corrosion and pitting. There is a micro switch inside that should click ( close ) when pedal is pushed making contact between F&R micro ( mounted on back side ) and solenoid ( small posts )

Re: testing speed controller resistor cart
does this look like your cart? this is a 1992 diagram.
I also am having issues with my cart, to test the resisots remove the 2 and 3 wire from the speed controler, these wires are attached to the v glide bottom 1 bolt and 3 bolt from the bottom. place the red led into the wire coming of the 3 bolt and the black into the the wire coming from the 1st bolt. now with the cart off the ground make your battery connections, turn on the key and place the f/r switch in the forward postion. As you slowly press the pedal you should get ohm readings. if you are not confortable with this take the 7/16 nuts off the v glide and remove the resistors one by one and check for ohm reading. I have the installation instuctions if you need them. I had several that where bad that i replaced today. tomorrow i have to replace the SOLENOID, it has worked and not worked so it has to go, have you checked the SOLENOID Last edited by vickerstam; 06-16-2011 at 05:42 PM.. Re: testing speed controller resistor cart
Ok, so I have my motor back and have new batteries (fully charged). I got the cart working, or so I thought. The cart will go in reverse but does not want to go into forward. I replaced the microswitch at the F/R switch and installed a new solenoid as well and cleaned all of the connections. All of this before re-installation of the motor. At first I had forward and reverse, now when I put it in forward and press the pedal the reverse buzzer sounds and the motor does not turn. If I put it in reverse the buzzer sounds and the motor will turn in reverse. Argghh!!! Help!!!
