Default FX503 Controller with PQ Bandit

Hey guys,

I just installed this combo with new #4 wires and an HD solenoid and I love it.. My batteries are new so its gonna take a while for them to get to full power...

Question though, does anyone else have this setup?... The cart now has a "braking" feature (probably the controller) when I let of the accel pedal... is this normal?...

Its pretty good cause it helps with breaking but it can also be kind of "strong" in a sense that it will lock up the back wheels if going downhill at slower speeds.

Also, the controller gets a bit warm but I'm sure its fine.. but could it get too hot?

I have the same motor & controller combination in my '06 Precedent and there is no longer any braking. The regen braking went away after PQ did the mod on the motor.

Same setup on my 02 IQ, I have the braking and love it. Flight Systems can take the braking out of the controller for 50 if you decide later to do so.

I think you can tell if your controller has braking by looking at the amperage rating, mine says 500/30, I believe the "30" is the braking amperage. If yours just says 500, then you don't have the braking

I got both my controller and motor from PQ so maybe i should talk to them... problem is that i installed everything just recently so i just found this out...at first i liked the braking but its starting to get annoying... its constantly causing the cart to lurch when it kicks in.. does anyone know if the controllers that come from PQ are supposed to have this feature or was i supposed to ask to have it disabled?$50 to disable it doesn't sound too bad.. but shipping from and to hawaii might kill..

ripdis85, unplug your speed sensor and make sure pins aren't broken, then plug back up..........make sure they snap back together, then try your cart..........it shouldn't have regen braking. If this doesn't fix the problem call me and if need be I'll send you a new speed sensor and all you'll need to do is remove two screws and replace. I hope this helps.........

hey you guys are fast.. lol.. unfortunately i gave this a try and its still the same...i took it out and its deninitley regen.. my volt meter shows an increase in voltage when it kicks in.. i also double checked the pins and none of them are broken.. the clip also clicks into place just fine.. see i remeber when i ordered everything you guys said there wouldn't be any regen..thought i was losing my mind..lol.. so would replacing the speed sensor make the regen go away?..

thanks

What kind of speed are you guys getting out of this set up? I have a 07 precedent with bandit and 215-40-12 tires. Getting 25 -26 out of it now but looking for a few more... And thought of getting a 400 or 500 amp controller.

The stock controllers have speed or rpm limits in them. The aftermarket controls do not.
