Problems with converting 36 volt cart to 48 volt NEED HELP
So I bought a bunch of parts to convert my 36 volt vglide resistor cart to a 48 volt cart. I have the batterys installed, and everything ready.
Ive been useing that diagram ^^ Ive got a few questions now: 1) Is the diagram correct? Why does the charger wire go to the neg of the first battery, wouldnt it be posi? 2) Everythings hooked up now JUST like the diagram, but when I put the cart in gear, the soleniod gets REALLY hot, and the cart wont run. Its a 48 volt solenoid, that works fine.... I have everything wired up, why wont it run :/ The parts should work btw. Its gonna stay a resistor vglide cart too, i didnt drop a controller in it |

Re: Problems with converting 36 volt cart to 48 volt NEED HELP
Welcome to BGW
This won't work well . I have pictures Resistor coil carts may work on 48v for a little while but they will eventually meltdown. If putting 48v in a 36v resistor cart worked the manufactures would have done it. The V-glide in the pictures was in a resistor cart with 48 volts. Time to go back to the drawing board.... |

You will need a 48v controller, compatible solenoid, potentiometer, 4g cabling and charger to properly make the conversion.

Re: Problems with converting 36 volt cart to 48 volt NEED HELP
I have all the parts needed now.
Got everything hooked up, still wont run :( When I plug charger in, it charges for 5 seconds then shuts off. When I hit the gas, it "clicks" but doesnt move. also, the cable in the soleniod that connects both sides (double ended cable touches both posts of soleniod) heats up bad when I put it in gear. What could be the problem please help guys |

Re: Problems with converting 36 volt cart to 48 volt NEED HELP
Ok guys, disregard top diagram, this carts completely different now.
As of right now, its a 48 volt, solid state cart. 36 volt high speed motor, 48 volt controller, computer thingy, throttle thingy, and of course the batterys and wire. If someone could decipher my wiring, and find any flaws that would be great. Status as of now: -Not receiving charge, charges for 5 sec then shuts off immediately. -Cart will not go foward or reverse. Other than that, everything appears normal. No loose wires, exposed wire, or damage. The charger and batterys worked fine on the donor cart, before anyone asks if the parts are good or not. This came off my buddys wrecked 48v club car, which needed a new front end and everything, and was pretty much totalled so I've got good parts now. Before stripping, the rear wheels turned fast when gas was given, and the battery ran all day (when there was actually a front end not just twisted metal lol) Voltage across the pack reads 49.1, a little low but a good charge should fix that. Heres the pics: |
