Default 60 Volts across batteries?

Hey Guys,
Anybody know why I'm getting 60 volts across 4 12 volt batteries? Each battery shows about 15 volts. The batteries recharge and the charger shuts down automatically, without any problems. I'm using a digital meter that appears to be working ok.

I've checked every possible way, but can't get ~50 volts when fully charged.

The cart runs great!

2007 CC Precedent, Commander high speed motor, lifted, wheels/tires, but all else pretty much stock.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

because you are checking them right after they come off charge and the charger is set to shutdown when the oncharge reading hits 63 volts......

Thanks Rabbit,

What would be a good reading for me to look for, and how long after charging should I wait?

I'm so glad I found this site, you guys are great!

Thanks again,

Steve

12 hours is a good ballpark figure

I just did some reading on the CC charger.
The charger is plugged in and left to charge when it shuts off un plug and wait 5 min plug back in and run tests, below is out of the book

The on-charge voltage for the set should read between 56.0 volts and 63.0 volts depending on the age of the battery being tested

Thanks to all of you. Looks like I'm good to go, but will test again after the next charging cycle. I have no idea how old the batts are, but they look fairly new. They are club car batteries. At least they say club car on the tops.

The batts read 57.8 across all of them after sitting about 17+/- hours.

I personally think that's high but one can't argue with the C.C. book

I looked up charging of these batteries and they say that 2.3 to 2.35 volts per cell gives max life but slow charge and 2.4 to 2.45 volts per cell gives faster charge times but more corrosion and off gassing and is not good at high ambient temp's. which puts the high end at 58.8 and your well over that !!!

get some brand new batteries 1.5 volt and maybe a 9 volt and measure with your meter let me know the results. I'm betting the meter is off slightly if you measure these non rechargeable alkaline batteries and you reading is over 1.55 and closer to 1.75 then that's whats going on here
