Default Spray painting the roof??

Has anyone had any luck with spray painting the roof? I have a 2008 Precedent and was thinking about painting the roof black but I don't want to do it if is going to look cheap, bad, etc. Any info is appreciated.

Run a search and you'll find lots of recent talk about this as well as some pictures of the results. Use krylon as a search term. In summary it works well with a little prep and the right paint. I'm about to spray my 03 DS.

So, the plastic doesn't expand/contract with temperature changes?
Or, maybe the paint is "elastic"

Some roofs can be purchased in different colors, but you will pay. I did my DS before I sold it with the Krylon, came out pretty good I could not complain.

I lightly sanded mine. Used a wax & grease remover. Sprayed adhesive promoter, primer. Finished with Dupilicolor rattle can. It has been 8 months still looks great. It is holding up very well.

I asked that question a couple weeks back and everyone suggested Krylon fusion paint. I just painted mine and it looks good, the fusion paint bonds with plastic...I have no complaints. Its much better than spending $250-$300 for a new top. My local Home Depot had it for $4.29 a can, used 3 but bought an additional for touch ups if needed.

whats bhe best way to spray the top to make it look even? I have spray painted platic before and some spots are brighter (or look wetter) than other places. I want to make sure I get a uniform spray.

I placed the top on card board, painted in a sweeping motion and started and stopped spraying on the card board before and after the actual top....that made even layers of paint with out having the excess that occurs when you first spray. I have no complaints about mine at all.
