Default 8volt vs 6volt battery conversion

I am redoing my club car ds cart it now has 6 dead 8volt batteries
w/no charger
Wondering about maybe converting it to 8 6 volt batteries
Since i am going to need new batteries
It has new motor, controller, f-r switch, selonoid I am using #2 wire
Would this be a good idea or not
Please give ideas about room for mounting ( i think towards rear) and charger options

also this is a 6 passenger with new 6 inch lift so only thing in back is the batteries

8/6v will give you 33% more amp capacity. Much Longer run time.

if you can afford it go with trojens and get a C.C. 48 volt charger......its not going to cost anymore than a good aftermarket charger and you don,t have to worry about bypassing or eliminating your OBC unless you want to...........................

yes, you,ll have to run them off of 2 batteries and swap locations every few months to try and keep batteries as even as possible......................

I would keep the voltage converter, and pull from the hole pack

I do not have enough experience to know if your cart frame is the same as mine or my Dad's, but here are two DIY projects done by my Dad and I. Maybe it will give some ideas....

This is an album of my project, many non-battery pictures too, but it shows where I put the two new batteries in my cart. I clamped up the aluminum pieces and had a guy weld for me for $50. I had to move center existing batteries forward to make room for two new ones.

Here is my Dads cart where he has batteries coming up through body.
