Default Not Charging

Hello

I have a 2001 Club Car that has been switched over from 6-8v batteries to 4-12v batteries. It ran fine but will not charge. Apparently the OBC knows the difference.

Any tricks or ideas to solve this issue?

Thanks

Why would you want to go from 6 8volt to 4 12 volt? Seems counter productive to me.

welcome to BGW........you can try an OBC reset that might work but yeah i have to ask also why did you switch? if it was cost please don,t take this the wrong way but you made a mistake you were much better off with the 8 volts...........what brand of 12,s did you install?......anyways try the reset..................................

Thanks fellas - hindsite ya know - I was told in a couple other sites that it would just decrease run time by 20% - seemed believable and the batteries were half the price.

The batteries are deep cycles from a "battery giant" store. Can't remember the brand.

Thanks - I'll try the reset.

Looks like there's alot to learn - and I'm an electronics specialist - good thing it's industrial.

What batteries do you recommend? what makes them different? I have this thing at my lakehouse and only use it 6-8 weekends a year.

I appreciate all your help

Mostly - graded dirt roads and some black top - It's actually a private campground. Just going back and forth to the beach and things.

Maybe 3-4 hrs of tallied driving over a 3 day weekend twice a month if I'm lucky. Probably 8 weekends a year.

you might be ok if its only 3 hours or so a weekend.......thing is they just don,t lastlong and runtime isn,t near what you get with true cart batteries.......the difference is the weight....more weight = more lead and an 8 volt cart battery i beleive weighs more than a 12 volt deep cycle....and theres a different discharge rate....i,m no way a battery expert but we have some guys here who really know about them....so hopefully they read this and jump in.........you,ll be lucky if you get 3 or 4 years out of them but with cart batteries you can get 10 years......its different for everyone and break in and maintence plays a key role in in lifespan........................

Thanks Tom

I hope that the OBC reset works - If not I am going to go back to the 8volt and start fresh. I will find out on Friday.

Very much appreciated.
