Default Electric 48 volt Club Car on fire

I work for an electrical forensic investigation company and we are investigating a 10 year old electric 48 volt utility style club car. I am just wondering if anyone has heard of any patterns in these things that are causing fires or any personal experiences? Let me know if you know of anything thanks!

Does it have a 48v to 12v voltage reducer installed on it? I've heard of those going up in flames.

We need some information on the cart to be specific.

Please try to determine the yr and drive system of the cart you are asking about.
Post the 1st half of the serial # for help with ID.

not unless something touched a few of the battery post....i once watched one burn but it was because of a wrench touching where it shouldn,t have.....thats not to say a small mammal like a chip monk or something couldn,t have caused it, they can and do cause damage if they decide they like the battery compartment for a house if they chew thur a few wires and they touch well up in smoke......other than something like that i have never seen or heard of one just going up in flames..wonder who is sueing who.........................

hello, and welcome to the internet. cpsc.gov

while there may be no specific trends of unprovoked spontaneous buggie combustion, the cases of fire i've read about all seem to been related to lack of maintenance, maintenance error, or poorly engineered modifications.
