Battery brand

Did a search but couldnt find much.

Was wondering if there was certain brands of batteries to stay away from or even you prefer?

I just need to place all 6 of my batteries (yes, there goes 1 full paycheck :( )

Just was curious if there were a brand of batteries to stay away from. Thanks.

Trojan (T105,T125,T145), Interstate (XHD) , Crown All considered Top of the line 5-7 years if properly maintained

Trojan (T605) , Interstate (RD) US Battery Good mid range battery 4-5 years if properly maintained

Trojan Pacer, Powertron (made by Trojan) Decent low end battery 3-4 years if properly maintained

Deka, Powervolt, Energizer, Duracell , E-3600, Autocraft, Napa...... bottom of the barrel batteries that are not worth the $$ they charge for them. You would be the exception if you got anything over 3 years and in most cases, you are lucky to get 2 years.


The preceding statements are a matter of personal opinion, Everyone is entitled to an opinion so don't flame me for mine.....

I like any battery that weighs 64 pounds .... stay away from anything lighter, it will store less amperage. All the big names are good and price varies with availability... so you have to just check around and see what everybody in your neck of the woods is using.

Remember when it comes to performance, how you use and maintain your batteries matters more than what brand they are

any good name brand or middle of the road is ok .....as stated break in and maintence are just as important if not more.......i don,t like cheaper batteries cause they are harder to deal with if you have low voltage issues.....that is to say with a brand battery if voltage gets to low its not hard at all to bring voltage back up but with cheapie batteries i find it very difficult sometimes to get voltage back up......even hard on charger.....makes it work way more than it should have to,.................just my opinion......................

There are lots of places to cut corners in battery construction. This is what makes one battery cost less than another, not that the dealer is a good guy, more likely it is a cheaper product with thinner cell connectors & thinner plates. Thinner plates show up on the scale, check weight on your prospects ... Thinner plates cannot store as much amperage as their thicker counterparts and they will give that amperage up quicker. So what may feel like a snappy ride at first, may end shorter than you think..... hope this helps !

I'd have to agree with all of the above statements.

As a practical example, I had always used Trojans in the past but I have selling and buying carts so often that I figured I'd try the Energizers at my local Sam's Club to save some money.

This weekend we were out driving around and the digital battery meter dropped one notch after a very short amount of time. Granted, this is a cart with a little more weight to it than normal but I couldn't believe how quickly the meter kept dropping. In the past, I could ride around with the Trojans for almost an hour before the meter would drop one notch.

Also, after doing the math, the set of 8 volt Energizers (my local Sam's Club just switched to Duracell) were $532.44 plus tax (with the cores). I just called my local shop that usually has the best prices on Trojans and they want $625 plus tax (with the cores) for a set of T-875.

For me, it is totally worth the $93 to get the longer ride time and longer life out of them.
