Default club car looses power wont move but will start again when it feels like it

I have a 2001 48v club car that will be working fine, but somtimes when I stop, it will act completely dead and wont move or take a charge, but then after it sits for a while (sometimes days, sometimes hours) it will work fine. Batteries are 1 year old and all show 8.2-8.3 volts on test. Shows 49+volts on the entire pack. I have cleaned all conections and everything seems fine. Also prior to this the battery light was on continuously for about a month.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Welcome to BGW!

You are describing an OBC problem. I would change it out.....intermittent today = tomorrows complete failure.

Lets see what the others think

Are the battery readings based on a full charge? Seems low if it is . . .

It is not at a full charge. I have not been able to get a full charge on it since the problem began. I Had a load test done and if I remember right it drew the them down to 46. something and held there, then recovered. Was told they checked out fine

is there a way to test the OBC. I tried to do the reset instructions provided in the sticky but didn't have any luck. the reverse buzzer never sounded.

The cart will not move with the charger plugged in and the charger won't charge either. During the times when the cart would move the charger will charge.

When the cart is working, you can hear the solenoid click on when you flip the tow/run switch, but when it not working the tow/run switch does nothing.

OK the OBC controls two functions RUNNING and CHARGING.

all arrows are flying in that direction!! but I would test before i just replace !!

search for the yellow wire jumper test @ OBC next time it does not run do this test as close to the OBC as possible, this will test everything past the OBC. It sounds like the OBC but there are two separate circuits involved and for the OBC to have these problem intermittent at the same time is strange, Could be something as simple as the hot wire to the OBC or the Ground wire to OBC loose.

My neighbors is doing this. Different in that it is fully charged, and charges with no problem. If I coast it will not take off immediately. Sometimes have to come to a complete stop and wait a few seconds but then takes off again. Always starts right off. Acts like a short in a cable but all are sound.

Could this be a solenoid sticking?
