2001 Club Car Questions
I just purchased a 2001 48 volt club car and I have a few questions.
1. I used the site to find out it is a regen. Do they have many problems with that system? Is there any things to check out to make sure it is working? 2. What kind of oil is used in the rear differential? 3. Where is the best deal on Trojan batteries? Not sure if mine are good. In the process of charging and testing. 4. Why should I spend $900 dollars on 6 trojans when you can buy 4 12 volt batteries for $300 dollars? I am sure I will have more questions but this is a start. Thanks for the informative site!! |

Re: 2001 Club Car Questions
Club Car experimented with 4 12 Volt batteries and went back to 6 8 Volt batteries. It will be less heat and demand on the 8 Volt batteries over the 4 12 Volt batteries. This will likely prolong your time between charges and lifetime of your batteries.

Re: 2001 Club Car Questions
$300.00 sounds really cheap. Is that for cart batteries or marine deep cycles? If it is for cart batteries where are you getting them?

Re: 2001 Club Car Questions
I was looking at the price of regular deep cycles. Do those not work for a cart application?

Re: 2001 Club Car Questions
The differential uses 22 OZ of 30 weight motor oil. Do yourself a favor and drain existing oil and check for metal particles ( some small is OK ) and replace with new. WARNING BE SURE AND FILL AND DRAIN THROUGH CORRECT PLUGS. DO NOT FILL THROUGH DIFFERENTIAL VENT NEAR MOTOR AS IT WILL RUIN MOTOR.
The regen carts have problems with the motor speed sensors that are mounted on outboard end of motor. The magnet and pick up units crack and wear out causing the loss of automatic slow down when accelerator is released and holds speed to about 7 MPH ( Note repairs available so see posts rather than big expense stock replacements ). |
