Default Is 400 amp enough?

Hi guys, Great forum..Iwant to get rid of the v-glide and coils on a 36 volt 93 ds,I have a rear seat and lift with larger tires we use it camping and through the woods at home , Will a 400 amp controller be big enough? I will stay 36 volt for now , 48 volts later...I am also thinking of converting the v-glide to a progressive resister to input to the speed controller...Good / bad idea?
Thanks

The kit to convert a V-glide to multi-step potentiometer cost nearly as much as a real potentiometer. A true Pot. sends an infinitely variable signal to the controller relative to the peddle position..... the multi-step pot has about 6 positions where it sends a throttle position update.
You can actually feel the steps when you drive.
