Don't cut anything... just don't use the spacer that was with the original key. Place the barrel key into the hole, screw it down from its face nut, the replace the plastic cover that pushes into the dash from the face covering the barrel face nut.

Remove the NUT on the end of the barrel key... it will then pass into the hole from the back side of the dash!

yes but then it hits the plastic piece that is coming out from the back of the dash doesn't even come close the opening in the front
the actual barrel on the switch is about 3/4 of an inch long then its a big metal block
I purchased the same one pictured in the thread

Please take a picture of your original key "laying on its side" NEXT to your new Barrel key for comparison. Also remove the nut and spacer on the barrel key.

I honestly don't remember having to cut anything for my barrel key. I also believe that mine had the same nut but also had a removable spacer which screwed up to the round section of the barrel key. Does yours have that spacer or is it one solid piece? If it is then just measure the difference between your two keys and cut the plastic accordingly, allowing to leave enough for the nut to still be hidden. Make sure you don't cut too much out... should only be cutting where the fins are, not past where they end and butt up to the round plastice mold on the inside.
