There is a line of "THE CLUB" locks available. I give one to everyone that buys a golf cart from me. You turn the steering wheel either hard left or right, hook one end on the lowest part of the steering wheel, then hook the other end around the seat back bracket. This way it can not be rolled to a trailer, the seat can not come up, therefore they cannot steal the battery(s), take your $4.00 gasoline, etc. I have known cases where they stole the generator or some other expensive item. rrgolfcart@bellsouth.net. Nivel # is 30726. About $44.00

gotta love those generic club car keys. i'm a union electrician, and i work on the big jobs with lots of club cars for the fat, lazy, and very important people. i also have a club car at home. i brought my key to work one day and took my foreman's cart (he had no idea that the keys were generic). an left it parked in the middle of a very large puddle and walked out in my muck boots. he wouldn't say how long it him to find it, but he was wet up to his knees the next time i saw him.

I purchased mine from Demon Cycle but I'm sure some of our vendors carry them as well.
Demon Cycle is sold out. Just picked one up from:

A work of advice for all of you installing tubular (barrel) keyed ignitions...

On the head of the key there will be some stamped numbers (ie: MP1428 or 1428 )
Write that number down on your owners manual, or cart paperwork as "Ign Key Code# ...."
In the event both keys are lost, a good locksmith can take those numbers, plug them into their computer, and cut you new ones from scratch!

Yeah... I know... the ignition is cheap, you can just replace it, and locksmiths are expensive...
depending on your location, and the locksmith, it may cost around $20 to $30, but, you'll be riding your cart THAT day!
(rather then ordering one, waiting 3 days for it to show up, another day tearing the dash apart, and replacing it)

Just a suggestion!
