Regen and Speed Sensor

I have a '99 Club Car DS with Regen (Regen 2 I think). There are black, red, and green wires going to the motor speed sensor.

I've seen in previous threads that I can just cut the green wire to disable regen. Are there any negative implications to disabling regen in this way? I considered adding a hidden switch in-line so that I can enable regen when the kids are on it, etc.

I didn't find any solenoid/resistor combination for dissipating power in regen, was it supposed to be on the drivers side battery compartment? If its there, can I leave this intact without major problems?

not sure you can do this, can you send a link to the thread you talking about. if you disable Regen this way on the IQ carts you fall back to 7mph top end.

If I understand right, the IQ series didn't start until 2003, and mine is definitely a 99 based on serial code.

I've cut the speed sensor green wire as a test and drove it for a couple of miles with no smoke and no regen. Freewheeling in this hilly area is a good thing when you can, but I'll still turn the regen back on when its time for the kids to drive. The downhill speeds got a little too high for their use.

I didn't notice my top end being slower, but I haven't GPS'd the cart to see what normal speed is -- can't imagine its much more than 10mph on flat ground.

Thats not correct, I have an 02 IQ, so they started before 03
