Most Popular Voltage Reducer

Hey guys,

I'm looking to install a voltage reducer on my 08 precedent and I'm curious as to what reducer the majority is using?

I'm also looking at maybe mounting it in the stock location.. Any precedent owners had any luck mounting an aftermarket reducer here?

All boils down to how many amps you need, figure that out and shop the site sponsers.

The most commonly used one is a 16v to 12v reducer, it was easily adaptable to 48v systems, (2~8v batteries) But, it will eventually create an unbalanced pack.

When Club Car came out with 4 12v battery setup, I've seen some people that just use 1~12v battery, (again... unbalanced pack)
I may be wrong, but, it was to my understanding that most Precidents, come stock with a reducer,
Because, the 2 the light kits I helped put on were are "plug and play".

Now... When the Ex decided she wanted REAL head lights on her DS 48v 6~8v cart, (as she put it... "I want it NOW!")
I went to my CC dealer 4 years ago, and asked for a 48v to 12v reducer,
he had never heard of them, and always used the 16v to 12v reducer,
I told him to read some of the things said here at BGW about the 48v to 12v reducers... he now stocks them!

a 48v to 12v reducer is your best bet, it uses the WHOLE pack, and no 1 or 2 batteries will have a "shortened" life

They are a bit more expensive, But, your batteries should be more of a concern in the long run!

I picked this one up locally, along with this fuse block. fits in the stock location on the ds carts

I'm not sure when CC changed over their Precedents to 6 8 volt batteries but if yours is a 4 12 volt battery setup there isn't a factory reducer. Instead CC uses #4 battery as the 12 volt source. I installed a 48 to 12 reducer and included pictures to show where I mounted it as well as an extra fuse block to tap off from, (under the Controller cover between my 4 batteries and mounted to the floor, bright aluminum ribbed enclosure.) Most 25 amps should run from $75 and up but there is one that is 30 amps and the Mack Daddy that would be my first choice if I had to do it over again:

1BDPRECEDENT

I used a 48v to 12v, 30A converter and run the deck, 4 channel amp and the lighting off of it. It provides plenty of power and it is switched on & off with the key so it doesn't put a constant drain on the pack. (Blue Box On Right)
