Motor power question
I'm sort of new to this golf cart thing. I recently lifted a 1997 ezgo and it seemed to have decent torque with the stock electric motor. I just bought a 1999 club car and it seems the stock electric motor is not as strong. I just put brand new batteries and that helped a little but is there any thing else I can do to increase the torque or speed of my stock club car electric motor? Does one brand make a stronger motor than the other? Thanks.

Re: Motor power question
It always helps if you give model and voltage of cart when asking for help. MODEL Series ( F&R lever under right leg ), Shunt ( F&R rocker type switch under right leg ). Pack voltage 36 volt ( 3 fill holes ) 48 volt ( 4 fill holes ).
The new batterys will take time to break in ( 20-50 discharge-charge cycles, never allowing pack voltage under 75%, FULLY charging after each use ) and so you wont get full power until then. Each cart is different because of so many factors that its hard to list. EXAMPLE motor brushes condition, battery cables guage, type of speed control, etc. Most STOCK golf carts have same about 3 plus or minus HP so most are close in motor power. |
