welcome to BGW, kinda sucks when that happens..........as for the reprogramming one would think that you shouldn,t have to after just replacing the batteries but one of the C.C. techs here will know for sure.....................

That should not happen... check your triangle plug at the motor connection and make sure it's connected properly. Did you remove any wires under the controller cover?

check you motors speed sensor .....

with the key on ..push the cart forward does it beep a warning that you are rolling

try it again backwards...

if it beeps you speed sensor is ok...if not most likely you FLASHED your speed sensor when you battery left this earth.

speed sensor $155 ( replacment hall effect sensor ( to rebuild it ) is about $2 plus shipping)

Did you check the magnet that sits under the speed sensor. Make sure its not cracked or broken.

Did I say won't or not sure? I know speed code 4 removes reagen breaking not sure how it effects hill breaking. Could someone test this. This sounds like speed sensor or sensor circuit. Pull it and bench test again, did you repair it or buy a new, or used one.

Speed setting 4 does not affect the rollaway braking at all. The only thing it changes is the top speed. Nothing else about the system will change at all. Lots of people seem to think that Speed 4 will eliminate regen braking. This isn't true either. "Pedal-Up" regen braking can be turned on or off, with a code or not. Doesn't matter. This sounds like a speed sensor issue to me. Do the roll test and let me know what it does.
