Default 48v to 12v voltage converter

I am looking to purchase a voltage converter 48v to 12v, 15-20 amp for installing a light kit on my 05' DS, my question is do you wire these using a 48v relay to switch them on and off when not in use? I am worried about leaving the converter on/hardwired to 48v when the kart is not being used, I realize with no load it should be fine and consume no power but I also notice some voltage converters come with a triger wire to switch the unit on and off? I am thinking of purchasing this one:

Does anyone have any experience/opinions on this converter or a similarly priced/featured converter?

if you get the one C.C. uses you just wire it and your done no on/off switch needed......i have never seen one on a cart with a switch so i can,t say much about it but as far as i,m concerned a switch on the reducer is the last thing you need.............its just another link in the chain to go bad some day.....................

That reducer looks fine for the job.
You can wire a 48v relay in that is activated by the ignition switch.
Here's the $4 relay I used: https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/st...0001_611928_-1

is there a reason not to run a 12v outlet off just 1 battery? i would only use it for maybe a small air pump while the cart was off. also my 05 precedent has factory lights that i believe are 12volt, could i pull power from the hot side of the switch?
