Rear hitch reinforcement?
I've got a 97DS Electric with the 'standard' receiver hitch, and I broke the rear frame member welds. After I get that repaired, does anyone have any reinforcement experience? I'm thinking I could bolt a piece of square tube under the tab on the ends of the frame rails and over the aft mounts for the hitch (probably eliminates the bumper, but with an overhanging cargo box, that doesn't seem too big a sacrifice). Seems like some sort of gussets or struts from the frame rails to the cross member would be awkward (unless I amputate the bag well) and not particularly effective, since there's still the problem with the hitch levered out so far. Suggestions?
