Default 96 Value-Did I get a bad deal?

I was wondering if I may have goofed. I bought a 1996 Club Car to give as a gift to my grandfather. I was just driving down road and saw one. Now that I paid $900.00 for it I find that it needs new batteries. A new charger and the left front tire does not hold air.
Should I just get the batteries and stuff or maybe just sell this one off at a loss and get a newer cart and start over?
I really don't wanna hand a problem over to pop.
Any thoughts?

Also where can I get a reasonable good charger?

Well, you may have paid a little too much but '96 club car will be a very nice little run about when you get it fixed up.

Thanks for encouragement. I really knew NOTHING about them! Pop just had congestive heart failure in May and it is hard for him to get around little lake park he lives at and a golf cart seemed like a good idea.
I feel like I jumped in with both feet on this one.

it all depends on where your located it seems prices are much different depending.......with a good set of batteries you,ll be at approx 1600.00 dollars and for a running cart thats not to bad.....can you find out what happened to charger? if you have to buy one there a member here right now selling a 48 volt C.C. charger.....powerdrive 2 i beleive the smaller one for a really good price........if your interested let me know........but figure with the charger you,ll still be under 1800 bucks.......as for the tire they are about 25 dollars......if thats everything lets just say you didn,t get ripped..........the cart does run right? you did get to at least see it run?? one last thing is it a 36 or 48 volt cart? 48 volt the charger receptical on the cart will be round and batteries will have 4 water fill holes.....36 volt batteries will have 3 fill holes.......................

Hmmm, the cart may be a riddle wrapped in an enigma inside of a puzzle! The charger end is for sure round! it has 3 blades. It for sure fits into the cart and you can feel it engage properly. BUT the batteries are for sure 3 water fill ones Pacer brand. I am now talking in two posts about this cart. Sorry cats and thanks for help!

The battery charger is a silver heavy box. Called a PowerDrive with ClubCar on it.E52338 17930 Has a little volt meter in top left and a 15amp switch on bottom right.

Too dumb to know! When my buddy plugs in, NOTHING happens. No needle move or anything. But the batteries are NASTY OLD!

What is the serial number? Sounds like it might have 6 volt batteries in place of 8 volt ones.
