I ran my stock motor for several months after upgrading to a 500A controller with no problems. The manufacturer and dealer will warn you not to stay on the throttle if you get in a situation where you are up against something and the cart won't go. You will cook the motor pretty fast.

1BdPrecedent

1---what did using the 500 amp controller do for you regarding speed and torque with the origional motor ...

2---why did you go 500 amp over 400 amp upgrade ...the stock controller is only 250 amp so 400 would have been a jump.

3---what size wires are you using ....

4-- why did you find the need to change the motor ??

I went with the 500A because I had plans of upgrading to a PQ motor in the future, which I have already done. At the time I installed the controller the cables were upgraded to 4ga. I am going to be switching the 4ga cables and installing 2ga. As far as speed and torque it was night and day. Top speed before was 17-18mph after it was running 24-25mph. It now makes over curbs and most other obstacles with ease. And the Bandit motor it just a little sweeter adding another 4-5mph and it is alot smoother running.

@1DB,
Do you have a buyer for your 4G wires? I have an '07 and want to upgrade my wires from stock to 4G. I would pay half the cost of new. R they soldered ends?

i just installed the dcx600 amp I'm mine with a stock motor(gonna upgrade when i got more funds)and let me tell you WOW.I have 25in tires and with just me on the cart it will pick the front tires up about 2-3 inches.It will ride a pretty good wheelie with someone on the back.have not put it back on the gps but it would run 22 before and I feel good when i say 28 is probably what I'm looking at right now.

I have an EZGO series but... upgraded to 480A Logisystems and 48V with stock motor. Not issues so far at all, although motor is about to get some purple dust from PQ.
