Use MCOR for a Potbox?

I am converting an old golf cart from resister to solid state with a Curtis 1204 motor controller. The manual calls for a PB-6 potbox and I have an extra MCOR which I would like to use instead of the potbox. Any idea if it will work and how it should be wired?

i would go with the pot.......see to many issues with the M-cor.......................

One thing to watch is that the Curtis PB-6 is 0-5K ohms speed control while stock 1240 controller is 5K-0 ohms. The C C MCOR is correct for 1240 controller with 5K-0 ohms. If you have not purchased the 1240 controller yet you can get one in either 0-5K or 5K-0 programed at time of sale so just be sure they match.

No reason you can't go with the MCOR as long as your controller is matched with it. The MCOR is just a 5k-0 pot in a box. The plus side is it take only 45 degrees of rotation to go from 5k-0. the down side is that it takes a lot of pressure to rotate it. And it needs a special shaft to fit the accelerator rod connection port. For those reasons I choose the standard Curtis potentiometer.

btw, curtis pb-6 can go 0 to 5k or 5k to 0. requires a little surgery though.

The controller I have is a Curtis 1204 that is non programable. The manual states that you need a 0-5K Curtis Potbot models PB 5-10. With my present setup the mounting of the MCOR would be a simpe bracket and I already have a spare. A PB 6 would take quite a bit more mounting but it looks like this is my only option?

whats the suffix on the 1204? 1204-410? can the MCOR be opened?

The controller is a Curtis PMC 1204-020 at 24-36 volts and 160 amps. The MCOR is sealed but could be cut open.

This is an 60's model Toro and I was looking for average speed as I will be using for golf only. Mainly trying to replace the resisters with solid state?
