Default How do you Interpret "State of Charge" ?

Once your eyes roll back into their forward position, maybe you can help a "dummy" out with the whole state of charge thing, and if I should be looking at replacing my batteries. I have a '01 CC DS with original Trojan batteries (6 x and I'm a little anxious about their condition.

At the end of the charge cycle I checked individual batteries, but I assume that there is some sort of residual charge, because the readings were all over the 100% (8.49v) level.

After runing the cart for a few minutes I re-checked and five batteries were in the 8.36 range and one at 8.13. Running again for a maybe 20 minutes and checking again they were at the same level.

Does this mean that batteries are taking at max an 80% charge? Should I worry about the low one?

Thanks

wait about 12 hours after charging, then take your measurements. this will sufficient time for the surface charge to dissipate.
OR
after your quick little drive, wait 30min or so before taking your measurements. (this is probably a little less accurate)

a good hydrometer is less than $10 and gives a little better insight to determine your batteries' health.
