Default cart lights dieing when pedal pushed

I have a 06 precedent with 08 Trojan batteries. A month or so ago I checked the water in the batteries. It was low so I added distilled water to top them off. Well since then the cart does feel like it has the power it did before. I checked the power on the batteries after charging overnight and it said there was 51 volts across the pack. Same with load. I was at the campground this weekend and the lights cut out on me when pushed the pedal down. We had ran it on and off for several hours during the day and charged it for 2 hrs or so then ran for about 45 min before my son got on it. He was gone for maybe 30 min before he game back saying the lights were cutting out on him. I also noticed a dead spot on the pedal. Any suggestions on where I need to start?

Sounds like the batteries to me. Charge them up and do a specific gravity test with a good quality hydrometer.

you need to charge it more than 2 hours......thats part of the problem i know it is a hassle when you want to use the cart but if you want it to operate when you charge it you really need to let it go until its done cause 2...3...or even 4 hours just isn,t gonna cut it...........................

This is so true, that cart should be charged for about 6 to 12 hours before the charger will shut off on it's own, and you should NEVER let the battery pack get below 50% before charging the batteries, some never let it get below 70%, and if you been running the batteries down below 50%, and you have been charging it for 2 hours like you said, I would say you have some bad batteries

Yeah I know, that the only bad thing about an electric cart, you have to charge it longer than you can drive, when your at the camp ground riding around and the batteries die around noon, and you have to charge it for 7 hours, thats just no fun

i agree thats why i bought a back up..........keep it charged and ready to go...........came in handy last weekend we had company and when they saw the carts they started to giggle like little kids so had to let them have their fun..............a great weekend......my neighbor has this 3 wh 24 volt yellow thing.......looks like something that would ride around in a mill but he hasn,t used in in a few years and offered it up to me for 100 bucks..............i already got a set of good batteries for it so i,m buying it just to have ..........maybe make a service cart out of it so i don,t use mine for pulling and towing.................................

Thanks guys. I guess I was miss informed by the place I bought my cart. It normally charges over night but while I have it at the campground, I will plug it in after riding for awhile. Just so it wouldn't die. The guy said that was the best thing to do. Again, guess not. Not sure what a gravity test is. Can you give me some help on that tahoedawg? Also any ideas on the dead spot in the pedal anyone?

You did not mention if lights are running off of one battery, two batteries or the whole pack via voltage reducer . . .

They are hooked into a voltage reducer. It is the plug and play kit.
