Default Re: Quick OBC bypass question????

pack is now reading 48.6 after 5 minutes on the charger with the jumper wire installed.

The charger read zero on the pos. and neg when ac plug was connected.

It read 48.8 when the jumper wire was installed.....if that tells anything?

Plugged the dc in and disconnected the ac......didnt hear any clicks.

Can you clarify how to check the relay in the charger?

Use your ohm meter on the relay coil using all scales r1 r100 and try to get a reading. Also plug wires back in and do a voltage reading on the same wires while there plugged in to the relay. Listen for the relay to click when the charger is plugged in. Its looking like relay do a search for parts list i listed where to get these relays for less than $5.00

You're at below 50% which would be 48.4 volts but high enough to have the charger come on by itself when plugged in.

If you want...

And if you still have your charger in the bypass mode and want to charge your batteries and you're watching it very closely, (digital meter connected as you're charging and watching,) 60 volts max. At final rest with charger disconnected it should drop down to 50.91 volts, give or take for a complete charge of your pack.

Just a couple of quick questions Piston...

Did your charger come on when bypassed and did it begin to charge your pack? (Did you use a digital meter to watch as you were charging?)

Charger worked when I jumped the wires and it was charging. This was noted by an increased reading on my battery pack during charge of 50.2 or 52. or something in that area and after 5 minutes of charging the packs all around charge increased after unplugging the charger from 47.2 to 48.6.

Installed new relay in charger.....plugged it in and the charger came on. I walked away....it was off again. It will come on for a few minutes then shut off. Its like something is overheating. When I plug the dc cord in, the relay clicks. Then after I plug the ac in to charge the cart....the cart charges for a few minutes then dies. The I unplug the ac plug and plug the dc plug in again to check the relay and it doesnt click. Wait around 10 minutes and check the dc plug.....relay clicks. Charger works again for a few minutes.

Any ideas? Bad relay? Fuses are all still good!
