Quick question......it came with a grounding wiring wired through it??? It has a connection on both ends and seems like it has no business being there....LOL! Where is this supposed to go? Old one didnt have it and I obviously dont need it. Im guessing its used on other carts that use the same part number OBC?

Just wanted to thank everyone for helping me troubleshoot the problem. Truley appreciatted!
Are you talking about a #6 size cable that needs to go to the main negative battery terminal as well as to your controller? That must be used since its how the OBC measures the amount of current flow out and in! A cable equivalent such as a #4 or #2 cable can be used if you upgraded your battery cables.

Is it the cable shown in the picture passing through the OBC that you are speaking about?

Yep thats the one. I already have my #2 guage wire running around it. Seems like a dumb design to put a hole in the obc just to route a wire through it. Im going to either clip it off or zip tie it up out of the way.

No you're NOT! You must have that wire connected!!! You can leave your #2 the way it is but also connect that lead.

That design is intended for the pickups around that wire to sense current flow. That's the only way your OBC knows what to do!

Onboard Computer (OBC): The OBC, 1) monitors battery condition, 2) monitors the number of energy units used by the vehicle, 3) determines the number of energy units required to recharge the batteries and shuts the charger off when this number is reached, 4) determines when to activate regenerative motor braking, 5) locks out vehicle movement while the charger is plugged into the vehicle charger receptacle, 6) stores operating data, which can be read by the Communication Display Module (CDM).

But its not connected to anything. It has connectors on both ends and I thought the only reason its there is to simplify routing that wire on certain carts. This is a 04 DS if that matters.

Are we talking about the same part. It just free floats through the obc. You can pull the wire all the way through the hole from one connector to the other. the only reason you cant pull it out is the connectors are to big to pull through the hole. I cant see how the obc can read anything off of it?

Ive already charged the cart and it shut off when it was done?

The sensor is the black plastic piece that the wire goes through in the OBC. You must... repeat must connect the #6 black wire that goes through the OBC to your main negative post on battery #4 and to your controller.

That is the ONLY way your OBC can tell what's going on and is needed if using a factory charger!

I gotcha! I read up a little more on it. I wasnt processing what you were talking about because my old OBC didnt have that wire. That combined with already charging my cart and working fine threw me for a loop. I will connect it right now. Thanks.....hope nothing got screwed up in the process. Seems to be good to go though! Thanks again!

Do you have a picture of your old OBC? Was there a place where the wire should have been?
