4,12 volters

If I have 4, 12 volt batteries would I still need a reducer to come off all the batteries.Adding hi powered radio (no amp) alarm and a few led dome lights.Also adding the factory type head and tail lamps.Yea I know, asking questions already with only two posts.

Welcome to BGW

with out a reducer to come off all the batteries, it will shorten the life of your battery pack with out one, just pulling from one battery, not so good for the pack, the other 3 batteries get over charged every time you charge the batteries

welcome to BGW you can,t run off all 4 of them its still 48 volts and will fry anything you try...............and scotty is right about the rest.................

Sorry for the confusion, I was talking about either using the 4th battery 12 volts or either using all four and using a reducer.I have read here that some have added a dedicated deep cycle for the radios and stuff. I may go that route.Thanks guys

you can add a reducer.....thats the way to go.....a isolated 12 volt will work also but i would put a reducer in.......................................

I tried this a few weeks back and It didn't work as I had hoped. The Radio would cut out when I mashed the pedal hard. As the battery became drained, the problem got worse. At about 1/2 capacity, the radio cut out everytime I pressed the pedal. This is without lights. With lights on, I just turned off the radio because it was too annoying.

I bought a battery reducer and it made the problem better but I still have the problem. I will be installing a dedicated battery or two to run the carts accessories. I think this is the only way to eliminate the radio cutting out.

you could try a large capacitor in parallel with the output of the reducer. this would help smooth the output and act as a reservoir for those brief dips in power.

Yeh, you probably won't be happy running lights and radio off the 4th battery. And your battery pack, over the long term is not going to be happy either. I was stubborn, I tried it. I found that the battery just wouldn't last long enough to power them both for very long, especially at the same time. A reducer or an extra battery are the best 2 options. I didn't go the reducer route because I wouldn't feel comfortable with it being wired in and left on all of the time. And, since my kids ride the cart a lot, I was afraid that, sooner or later, one of them would forget to switch it off.

I rewired to a full size marine deep cycle battery that sits in a battery box under the rear seat in the old bag well area. That space was used for nothing else so it was a perfect spot. So far, we haven't had an occasion where we ran out of juice before we wanted to (not that you ever want to). The only thing that still occurs, as has been mentioned previously, is sometimes the radio will kick out if it is on when you turn the lights on. Some radios may just be more sensitive to that than others. But a simple push of a button and the radio is back on and it stays on. Before, it would kick out here and there by just pushing the accelarator pedal.

Well I am going the extra battery route for sure.But I got the smaller battery box for the wheelchair scooter type batteries.I am going to try and make a bracket to hold it between the motor and battery bank storage.Looks like it will fit with plenty of clearance.I am going to start another thread/journal of my mods.( 2007 CC project)
