Club Car 48 Volt Charging Problem
Hello all,
I have a 1995 48 Volt Club Car that I use during weekends. I just purchased new batteries for it this past March. I always charge it after I am finished using it. This past weekend I was driving it and it suddenly died. The low battery warning light never came on. I plugged in the charger and it clicked on but showed 0 amps charging. I uplugged it and got the same result several times. I plugged my neighbors charger in and it would not come on. I figured the battery voltage was too low to trip the charger. I then plugged my charger into my neighbors cart and it would not come on. My neighbors charger was functioning normally with his cart. I have a Powerdrive Charger and would like to know if you think this is a charger problem or a problem with the cart. Any suggestions on where I should start troubleshooting? |

If your charger was bad it wouldn't work on either cart. If your pack voltage was too low, it wouldn't allow your neighbors charger to work on you cart either. So once again, what is your current pack voltage? |

2. His neighbor's charger will not work on his cart, but will work properly on neighbor's cart. Sounds like his charger has issues and his pack may be too low for neighbor's charger to turn on. Needs to check pack voltage first. |

Re: Club Car 48 Volt Charging Problem
Thanks for all the replies. I was going to check the pack voltage this coming weekend, however since the cart quit about 1/4 mile from my house one of the maintenance workers pulled the batteries and charged each one of them individually. He drove it the 1/4 mile back to the house and then plugged in my charger. He said it appeared to charge normally? It kicked on and showed 15 amps then gradually backed down and shut off after about one hour.
Now that my pack is fully charged what should the voltage be? I plan to monitor the voltage before and after charging until I figure out what is wrong. Is there anything else I should either test or look for? |

Re: Club Car 48 Volt Charging Problem
if your charger shut off after just an hour somethings not right it should have charged much longer........batteries should be approx 51 volts after a ful charge and then sitting a day................more important is load testing to make sure they all hold under load but 1st theres something odd if its only charging an hour.............................
