Default Upgraded wires, motor, and controller. No to little improvement??!

hey guys,
i have a club car ds 48 volt lifted 6" with 14 wheels 23 inch off road tires.
I just got my motor upgraded bu plumquick, installed a 400 amp alltrax controller (non-programmable) and put in new 4 gauge wiring.

Before mods: (stock motor, 225amp controller 6 gauge wires)
foward: 11 mph
reverse: 5-7 mph
uphill: 5-7 mph
downhill: 25-28mph

After mods:
forward: 13 mph
uphill: 8.5
downhill: approx. 25

I was hoping for much better performance increase but was I being too optimistic and do these look correct?
also i noticed that there is about 1/4" to 1/2" play in the pedal before i hear a click, and then it takes further pedal travel before the cart moves. could this indicate an issue?
thanks guy i just wanted to go fast lol

My 2003 DS Series 48V cart, 6" lift 22" tires stock would do 13 in the flat, I installed a Bandit and changed my fluid in the rear end to syn. It will roll 19mph on the flat but it takes a little time to get going that fast. I would think u would see more improvement.

Alltrax 400 amp controller you used, is it an NPX model?

These speeds sound a little slow to me. My 03 DS is all stock and does 14-15 set on code 3. Code 4 stock is supposed to get me to 19. I would think you should be doing better than me with your upgrades. You should only have an inch of pedal movement maybe a bit more before you here a click. If you have more you might not be getting the full WOT signal to your motor. There is a couple recent threads here on how to fix that. Easy to check that first.

you def have a problem somewhere. throttle would be the first place to start.
Is this cart an IQ?
If so, then you could put stock controller back in and hook scanner up to see if you are getting 100% on the go lever

There probly is an easier way to check that, someone should chime in.

I get about 26 mph with about the same setup.

Noserider,

I just measured it and it moves 2 3/4" before it clicks, I need to check it out.
Thanks,
Steve

If you check the Alltrax website you will see that the NPX controllers should only be used on standard carts with standard motors and no lifts. The AXE is designed for performance upgrades. You may burn out your controller and invalidate any warranty.
