Default low speed growl??

ok guys i need a bit of help......1997 48 volt C.C. when your driving and you let off the pedal you get a growl but from where ??? not sure if its motor or rear end.......does not do it at all in reverse or while under pedal power..........if you stay at a crawl like 1 or 2 mph you can hear it but it goes away if any faster...........its not a real tinney sounding growl its more of a low baratone deep sounding growl............not a peep in reverse is this one of those that would need the motor centering bearing kit they sell? any opinons?? didn,t have time to lift it and see if it was there with no friction on the cart....just drove it a bit to see if i could hear it and when i heard it.........i,ll be honest if i didn,t know any better i say rear end but i,m not sure at all and knowing they had issues with the motor i,m trying to pinpoint it before i really get into it...............thanks.......................

Was 30 weight motor oil in differential up to bottom of fill hole when checked? Might be worth a try and drain lub out and check for metal in oil and refill ( ONLY 22 OUNCES NEEDED ) as this some times stops minor sounds.

The guide ring sound ( motor shaft to differential input shaft ) is more of a vibration, or if really bad a metalic clunking sound.

It is probably the snubber that is in the end of the motor shaft where it meets the dif gear.

it's the guide ring in the motor shaft the end that goe's to the pinion shaft they wear or come unglued.pull the motor you will see a snap ring in the end of ths shaft remove it the guide ring might slide out or you may have to use a puller. a new guide ring should come with glue ,make darn sure you clean the inside of the shaft then glue new ring in make sure the spline's line up in the motor shaft, if not the motor will not seat. let the cart sit overnight to make sure glue is dry then you should be good to go.
