Battery/Charger ?
New to the golf cart scene. Picked up a CC Precedent and did the routine checks on the batteries.. water, cables, etc. Came with 4 12v batteries Noticed it was running out of battery power a little more faster than it should. I did notice that when I plug the charger in to the cart it takes about 15 seconds or so for the charger to kick on. Left plugged in for a few nights straight. Went to just ride around the house... Charger was off (kicks off when finish charging). Rode for about 30 minutes. Plugged charger back in overnight. The next evening about 24 hrs later charger kicked off again. I checked the voltage this is what I got.
Battery 1- 12.43 Battery 2- 12.19 Battery 3- 12.03 Battery 4- 11.34 I know it should be around 12.7 when fully charged. So it seems like they aren't charging all the way or they are fully charged but not holding charge. Idk what to do next. Some help would be great. Thanks |

Re: Battery/Charger ?
Couple things, You can see what the high voltage is when the charger is on, should reach 58-63v
Check SG with a hydrometer Attach the meter to the pack and see what voltage drop you get on a hill? Looks like you might have one weak battery. How old are they ? What brand? |

Re: Battery/Charger ?
The batteries are the Trojan and have club car on top so I assume they came with the cart. They are probably around 2 or 3 yrs old. Also were at on the cart can I find a serial # or something to determine the exact yr.

Re: Battery/Charger ?
Passenger side inner dash should have a sticker/barcode with serial number . . . battery negative terminal should have a letter/number code stamped into it, ie D3, that indicates the month/year of manufacture . . . letter indicates month, ie A=Jan, B=Feb, etc . . . number for year, ie, A1 would be Jan 2011 . . .

Re: Battery/Charger ?
OEM 12v Trojans, 4 yrs old, are going to be at the end of their useful life.

Re: Battery/Charger ?
either that or you would be much more happier to convert over to six 8 volt batteries......C.C. did after a few years they no longer use 12 volt batteries.......................

The 4/12v proved to be a less than ideal battery pack. It produced shorter run times & shorter battery life than the old 6/8v. I believe they stopped using the 4/12v configuration. There is a conversion kit available from 4/12 to 6/8 but it is not inexpensive. |
