Default F / N / R switch gets hot after running cart

Hey,
I am a newbie....my F/N/R switch 2 mail lead wires coming off switch are too hot to leave my hand upon for but a moment after I am riding 48V cart up hills and for extended time. Is this something that may be limiting power...? Or is this normal. I have 700 amp with new batteries and 11.4 hp motor.

If you haven't already it is time to upgrade to a HD F&R and 2g cables throughout the cart.

I didn't know they make a heavy duty f/r switch.....I have 1 (one) gauge cables on all the battery connections....what ga should be coming from the f/r switch?

don,t take offence to this but if you only have 1 gage on batteries its a waste you gain nothing......as soon as voltage gets to a 6 gage cable thats a bottle neck and that may be why the F&R is heating up......as scotty said HD switch and change all 6 gage cables to 1 gage..................

you can make your own HD switch. get some copper stock, trace the old aluminum basbar onto the copper and cut it out. the bar in the photo was a little thick and required finding smaller nuts. also, make sure your cams are nice and smooth. no gouges or burnt spots.

and as stated above, get 1awg throughout!

no offense taken......I bought the cart this way...and I appreciate the suggestions as to what I should do to get the best performance out of it.
