Default i just got new batteries but..........

So, I bought new batteries and am about to install them and i have come upon a snag. I thought i did great by drawing the setup of all 6 of the batteries (36 volt) and making sure which wire went to which terminal.... boy was i thinking ahead. the issue is i forgot to put on my artistic little diagram which were the positive and negative terminals. can someone please help a new idiot cart owner. Its a 1989 club car, 2 seat. i searched on here but none of the diagrams seem to match up with the way the wires were when i took them off.

on a side note there was a white cable at the (looking down as sitting in the driver seat) front battery (#6) on the left side, a red cable (battery#4) towards the front of the battery compartment on the left middle battery, and 1 small and 1 larger size black cable on the far passenger side (battery #2) towards the back of the battery compartment.

6 1 ^
5 4 3 2 <<< battery placement ^front of cart.

thanks!!!!!!

all your batteries get wired pos to neg.........so #1 the cable that goes to the pos terminal gets wired to the neg terminal of #2 and the pos terminal on #2 get wired to neg terminal on #3 and so on................your charge 10 gage wires the pos wire goes to pos of #1 and the neg wire goes to neg terminal of #6........................all the battery cables on 36 volt carts from mid 80,s to late 90,s should be cabled the same way ( the battery cables )..............................

shadowman, thanks for the info, but my prob is which way do i place the batteries in (positive to front or back) the compartment (on frame). See i have 3 diff color cables, 1 white, 2 red (one red long cable goes to motor) and 2 black ones (one black is very thin).

(white)
6---------(red)-----------1
5-----------4---3---------2
--------------------- (2 black)

when i took the old batteries out, the #6 battery ^^^^ (see above)^^^^ had a white cable on the left front terminal (i cant remember if it was pos or neg). The red (short cable) was on the front terminal of the number 4 battery (red goes to pos right?). and the 2 black cables were on the rear right terminal of the #2 battery (black to neg right?). so i dont know where to start and which terminal to use first. none of the diagrams have it set up the same way as mine. and mine is an 88 not 89. im really confused and i just want to get the right cables on the right terminals.
