Default 4 Gauge Wire Conversion Problem

Early this past Spring I converted all of my factory batt. cables with 4 ga. Job came out nice but I have a question: The kit came with the wires for ONLY the batteries, not the F/R switch. Now the blue wire going to the switch keeps getting hot & disconnecting from the lug (See pic).
Was I supposed to swap out those 4 wires on the F/R switch too? Seems to me the answer is "yes" as now the weakest link prevails, etc etc.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks!

yes. those cables have to carry the same amount of current as the battery cables.

Great~thanks for all the replies...so the way I'm looking at it is, replace ALL the cables w/ 4ga. Batts are already done so the only others that I see are the 4 colored cables going from the motor to the f/w switch. Am I correct? FWIW, I'm running a stock set-up, but later this month I'm going to get a PQ or EMP drop in motor-don't want to really mess with anything else. The cart is a 2000 48V Carryall. If anyone has anything to add I'm listening!
Thank you all again~

Doc, as i just wrote a post last night i too made all my own cables 2ga, just because i like doing things my self. However i have a cc with an OBC (on board computer) and 4 ga and 2ga will not work with the obc. unless someones else can chime in. when it comes to wire thay all need to be the same or you will have a bottle neck effect. the wires your mentioning of some what easy to replace, just make sure you replace the forward and reverse switch with a heavy-duty.

but hey i am new to this golf cart stuff nut i have rear hundreds of threads

If you have not found out, you can leave the original one hooked up and run your new one around the OBC

IMO, this is not a good thing to do. The cart will run but the OBC will not charge the batteries properly.
4ga cable will fit through the hole then put the connector on after.
