Default hot rod a club car

I have a 88 36v club car. People talk about tricks to speed up the cart such as shortening the resistors. Does the last lead or wire from the controller go to the end of the resisitor and does not go through the resisitors anyway at wide open throttle ? Thanks

But in the meanwhile, the fastest speed usually does not use any of the resistor coils, and is straight through.

88 CC DS is a great cart to hot rod.
I would not shorten the resistors. The final speed is direct current from the batteries to the motor without going through any of the resistors. So even if you shorten any resistor you can not achieve better than high speed (WOT) which you already have. See?
I have an 89 (picture in my signature). It also is a resistor cart. When I got it I put six 6v batteries in it and test drove all around, up and downhill.
On day two, I put a set of six 8v batteries in it and have enjoyed a big 30%boost in torque and speed ever since. Same solenoid. Same resistors. 4 gauge cables. I just dropped the batts and cables in away I went on a test drive that has lasted 6 mos. LOL
I have since bought a 480 amp controller, a heavy duty 48v solenoid, a PB-6 potentiometer for the next phase.
Mine is going to get a little Jakes spindle lift and some 22s this weekend! Good luck with your cart.

8 volt batteries are standard equipment in some of the late model carts.
I got mine from dealer as take outs. Or you can buy them new.
