Default New Batteries won't charge

I bought 6 new batteries for my 2000 club car. It had been down for about a year or so. We have driven it for a while and finally the orange light came on. I went to charge the batteries and the charger barely comes on. Doesn't even get off 0 amps. ???? Bad Charger? It worked fine when I was trying to charge the old batteries.
