New Batteries won't charge
I just bought new batteries for my 2000 Electric Club car 36v. It has run great, but now the orange light is on and I went to charge the batteries and the charger barely comes on. Slight buzz, still reads 0 amps. Bad Charger? It worked on the old batteries, it would charge them, they just did not hold a charge. Thanks, Jeff

Re: New Batteries won't charge
Doesn't sound right? Did you run the main negative cable thru the obc as original?
Use your voltmeter to insure the 1. batteries are connected correctly, 2. you have 48v at the charge receptacle, 3. the pack voltage is rising when the charger comes on. |

Re: New Batteries won't charge
welcome to BGW.........scotty i,m reading its a 36 volt..........if so no OBC..........anyways what does your charger plug look like? round 3 pins or square 2 spade?? what voltage batteries? 6 volt have 3 water fill holes and 8 volt have 4 water fill holes.........1st make sure you put the right voltage batteries in the right voltage cart.....48 volt cart will have a round 3 pin plug into cart..........if thats all ok than go over how you put them in and ran the cables cause if it worked before than more than likely its something you did which isn,t hard................it sounds like the charger is trying to work and it would be odd that everything was ok and now out of nowhere something went wrong with charger................................

Re: New Batteries won't charge
This may be a silly question, but did you remember to connect the wire from the charge receptacle to the battery pack?

Re: New Batteries won't charge
Thanks for the info. I was wrong, I have a 48 volt cart and I bought to 8v batteries at Sams about a month or so ago. Then I went back and bought 4 more, but turns out these are 6 volt (It was a diiferent brand and they said same battteries, just switched companies). So I have 2 8 volts and 4 6 volts. I am going to Sams to see if they will let me return them.
Thanks!! |
