Default 6 person CC villager motor recommendation?

Hi Everyone, I have just purchased a 2003 Club Car 6 passenger Villager that moves at a crawling 8 MPH. I noticed that the existing motor is the exact same 3.10 HP special duty motor in my old 1997 DS CC.

I was looking for recommendations on a good replacement motor and/or controller.

Facts about the cart:
48volt series system
300 amp speed controller.
No lift
Regular size tires.

What I would like:
speed better then 15 mph hopefully
reasonable runtime 18 - 20 miles
decent torque (it is a 6 person cart after all and Peachtree City, GA can be hilly in places but not too bad on my side of town).

I did call PQ and they are working up a quote but I would like other suggestions if anyone has had good experience with some other motors.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Actually, After reading all of Offtwice's cart envy thread... I must ask if anyone who has done a 48V AC conversion is happy with it and finds it to be a reliable motor?

I think my 6 person will really work well with a AC motor. Please let me know where you got your kit if you've done a AC conversion.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Seems to me that cart should do 15mph and run at least 20 miles in its current configuration. If you are only making 8 mph on the flats then everybody in PTC is flying past you (maybe even some of the joggers).

Are you satisfied that all of the batteries are in good condition and completely charged? Good wires, clean and tight connections? Dragging brakes, bad bearings?

I used to have a 97 CC DS series cart that was maybe 10 MPH max with the exact same motor so I am not expecting much from it. I've heard the older 6 person carts were like that with the 3.10HP motors.

Batteries are good. I adjusted/cleaned the batt wires myself right after we got it. I did not check motor/controller terminals yet nor F/R lever. The brakes, well I'll be checking them this weekend as they are very rough and MAY be rubbing or shot altogether.

And Yes we sometimes get passed by Joggers, especially when going up hills. Rather embarrassing actually.

Thus my motor recommendation requests.
