Electric Club Car electrical troubles

I have a 1983 Club Car 36 volt cart with resistors and 5 solenoids. When I touch the accelerator, the cart takes off full throttle. The tires squeel and the front tires come off the ground.

So far I have replaced all 5 solenoids, the micro switch on the forward / reverse switch and the five micro switches and glide in the speed switch assembly box.

Any suggestions? I don't know what else to check.

I'd check a wiring diagram and make sure it's wired properly. The only way it's gonna run full throttle immediately when the first solenoid clicks is if the last speed solenoid is stuck, or the buss bar or #6 wire is on the wrong post. Make sure the #6 wire is under the stand-off and NOT on the same terminal as the buss bar.

I am new at this. What is the #6 wire and the stand off? How do I test the buss bar?

The # 6 wire is the 6 gauge wire. The stand off is the angled bracket that is bolted to the coil. The buss bar isn't really something you can test, it's either a solid piece of metal, or it's broken. Never seen a buss bar fail. I can promise you it's not failed, if it was, you wouldn't get high speed.

david is correct about the buss bar its either there or its broken.....the only issue i have ever seen with a buss bar is it was so dirty and cruddy it was unreal...........if you replaced all the solenoids and micro,s and all the coils are good and not touching each other or broken theres nothing left.........might i suggest you jack the rear of the cart up and slowly press your pedal and watch as wheels start spinning...........they should start at the 2nd solenoid click you hear.......keep in mind even a new clicking solenoid can be bad it happens all the time so watch wheels i,m thinking you might have gotten a bad solenoid or two.................................

Like I said, I am new at this. I found that I had the #6 wire on the buss bar side of the solenoid, not on the resistor side. I changed it and the cart runs fine.

Reverse is still sluggish and inconsistent though. Anything I check for that?

well at least you got it figured out.... reverse is 1/2 speed so its gonna be slower.........what do you mean by inconsistant?.....................

reverse goes slower, but it also does not go at a constant speed. It also has hardly any power in reverse to go up hill.

look at the bottom of your F&R switch.. You've got two tabs sticking out of the bottom of it. One wire goes to the Main positive post of the pack, the other goes to the #4 battery... If you hook them both to the MAIN positive you'll gain full power forward AND reverse.
