UPDATE ----

The story gets stranger... MZJ-400 solenoid has a simple cover that removes off the plunger.... The solenoid IS NOT WELDED SHUT.....

The plunger moves up and down freely. I even hooked up my audible ohm meter to the big terminals and can simply push the plunger up and down trigger the ohm meter at will... further more here are pics... so in my book this is solely on the controller now.

Were they just driving the cart when it did the meltdown or could it have been stalled with the brake, curb, etc. and they were attempting to get it going?

Wow that could've ended up alot worse. Nice job on the beginning of the restoration. Is the power washer all you used to clean it up?

Will your insurance cover all the costs for repair? My homeowner's policy covers my cart for fire/theft/etc and the liability coverage of the same policy carries over to it also for casual use at golf course/campground . . .
