Alltrax DCX 500 motor controller install
received the dcx IQ 500 amp motor controller and it seems that my stock controller has one more pin connector (far rt bottom in picture one)that I have no idea where it goes on altrax.....picture in the middle is old stock selonoid with two extra wires(black and light blue) that pin tail directly on it and the hd solenoid for cart does not have those two pig tails to receive them....any thoughts or pics of installation with same controller on a 2006 club car ds IQ?

Re: Alltrax DCX 500 motor controller install
I'm getting the same controller you have, please post what you did to install it. I'm going to take a close look at my stock controller today, and see if I have the same 4 wire plug that you are having problems with. I was all over the Alltrax website last night and found nothing instructing you where to put that plug??? Someone here has the answer, though! Good luck...

Re: Alltrax DCX 500 motor controller install
Does this help?
http://www.alltraxinc.com/files/DOC1...Q-WIRE-DIA.pdf Also, the 4 pin plug in right-bottom may be the programmer plug for the Curtis programmer in stock controller and not utilized in the Alltrax unit . . ?? |

Re: Alltrax DCX 500 motor controller install
Installed dozen of these...
The four pin connection is not used on the Alltrax controllers. It used to program stock controllers. Just tie it up and out of the way. Your stock solenoid will not work with this controller, the stock solenoid is only rated at 100 amp continuous and that is not sufficient, it will burn up. With a 400 amp controller you would use a 200 amp continuous solenoid. 500 amp controllers and up require a 400 amp solenoid..... So you will may run for a bit but trust me the stock solenoid will burn up... Also, if you are using a stock motor or even a Plumquick modified motor, the motor plug from the end of the motor (speed sensor) will not be used by the Alltrax, so you can either disconnect it or unplug it either way. If you have other questions just let me know. |

Re: Alltrax DCX 500 motor controller install
I bought the HD solenoid for the unit and noted that there are two pig tails on the old stock solenoid that have no visible place to plug them into the new Solenoid....(please refer to middle pic of the three in related post).....any idea on these...I put a new resistor and diode on the hd solenoid.....just dont know if these other two wires are extra also.....Thanks for your time and patience

Re: Alltrax DCX 500 motor controller install
yes....
make sure your diode's silver stripe is on the same side of the solenoid that has the main wire coming from the battery pack. The light blue wire (the one with the red connector) goes on the same side on the small terminals as the silver strip and power cable coming from the battery. The blue and white wire goes on the other side. This is shown in the schematic you have referenced above. |
