Ugrade controller (more torque) and keep stock motor?
Any opinions about upgrading the controller on a 96 DS without changing the motor. I am looking for more torque, not necessarily speed.

Re: Ugrade controller (more torque) and keep stock motor?
torque is a function of current. so, for more torque you need to be able to pass more current. larger cables (2awg), larger controller (400 to 500 amps), upgraded F&R switch, high current solenoid will get you as much torque as possible with the stock motor. (aside from a gear ratio change, but i have never done that so im not qualified to recommend it as a option ) at this point, the motor becomes the bottleneck in your system. if after you upgrade all of the above, you find the power is still lacking, you'll need a motor capable of more HP thats wound appropriately.
