You want one that has a class "C" rating which is for electrical.

Also a coast guard approved one has a better mount.

I was thinking about that and figure I will make a more secure mount for it.

I had one on my carryall, I sold that cart and haven't had one since but in light of recent events ....... seems we should think reconsider them.
A little Fire extinguisher rating info here.

# Class A extinguishers are for ordinary combustible materials such as paper, wood, cardboard, and most plastics. The numerical rating on these types of extinguishers indicates the amount of water it holds and the amount of fire it can extinguish. Geometric symbol (green triangle)
# Class B fires involve flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline, kerosene, grease and oil. The numerical rating for class B extinguishers indicates the approximate number of square feet of fire it can extinguish. Geometric symbol (red square)
# Class C fires involve electrical equipment, such as appliances, wiring, circuit breakers and outlets. Never use water to extinguish class C fires - the risk of electrical shock is far too great! Class C extinguishers do not have a numerical rating. The C classification means the extinguishing agent is non-conductive. Geometric symbol (blue circle)
# Class D fire extinguishers are commonly found in a chemical laboratory. They are for fires that involve combustible metals, such as magnesium, titanium, potassium and sodium. These types of extinguishers also have no numerical rating, nor are they given a multi-purpose rating - they are designed for class D fires only. Geometric symbol (Yellow Decagon)
# Class K fire extinguishers are for fires that involve cooking oils, trans-fats, or fats in cooking appliances and are typically found in restaurant and cafeteria kitchens. Geometric symbol (black hexagon)

It seems we need everything from A to K if you left your Lunch on the cart

If you need one for your cart, a simple ABC or BC dry chemical 2lb extinguisher is all you need and you can find them everywhere extinguishers are sold.

I agree that we should consider the risks of fire but before anyone jumps on the panic wagon, if you don't have one in your car/truck, boat, kitchen, garage etc, I would address those issues first.

I have 4 extinguishers in my house in various locations and I have a halon system and 3 hand-helds on my boat but I don't have them in my car or SUV. Although it's a personal decision I likely won't put one in my cart either.

I do! Mounted on the floor, right next to the "go" pedal. Used a USCG approved model's bracket to hold it down. Got one in my truck, too.

I've had 2 motor vehicles catch fire over the years, both were saved from major damage by having a fire extinguisher handy. (racebike and lawn mower)

Here's a tip for safety with the common type BC Dry Chemical extinguishers. Take the extinguisher out of it's bracket, flip it over, and tap it a few times. You should feel the powder shifting easily around inside. If not, smack it with a rubber mallet. If the powder is compacted at the bottom, the extinguisher won't work.
