I know the boom feeling! My wife and I were on my mother in laws cart a few years ago, and when we went turned around to head home, BOOM. The cart lasted about 75 more feet. :) It also blew the top off of 1 or 2 batteries.

When you said " passenger " side battery, it's a good thing no one was sitting next to you! I've had two batteries blow up on me! One was in a tractor and the other was in a car. Both times I had just hit the starter! Batteries are basically bombs and all they need is an ignition source to light off the hydrogen - oxygen mix! Why your cart backed up twice, but wouldn't move forward sounds weird, but I'm sure there's an explanation for that. I know when folks were golfing and a cart would go dead, it would still back up!

Did you feel the seat move when it blew? Or was it only heard and not felt?
