Question 04 Villager slows to a crawl on type of any incline

The school I work at has an 04 Villager in its fleet and the guy that uses the cart had been complaining that it was getting slower for months. I checked that batteries and found that they were older and two of them had atleast one bad cell. All six batteries were replaced last month and the cart is still running slow but only under the load of an incline. The cart gets up to speed and runs all out on a level surface but as soon as you hit any kind of incline it slows to a crawl. I checked the new batteries because I know you can get a bad one in a new batch. Voltages are all good. cells all check out and the cables are all clean and tight. I have tried all of the checks in the club car tech manual for a slow running car and have not been able to come up with anything that might be the problem. Any ideas of where to start looking now would be greatly appreciated!!!

Connect the voltmeter to the battery pack. Note the standing voltage. Head up the hill, note the voltage drop and post it here.
Also post the make and AH rating of the batteries, We can go from there....

Im talking slow, like i could get out and walk faster then the cart. I know they slow on hills but this one is not normal. The incline does not have to be big at all it can be the slightest incline. It seems like any load the cart cant handle it. Tires are good, brakes arent hanging up. I will check the voltages and post them.

Also, you said these are new batteries. How many times have they been charged? Are they put on the charger everynight? New batteries don't have a ton of torque but it will increase with each charge up to about 20 charge cycles. What batteries did you install(brand & modle#)?

Question Re: 04 Villager slows to a crawl on type of any incline

I checked the voltage results are in: sitting 51.44, running all out level ground it was jumping all over the place between 47.64-50.11, on any incline it dropped into the 47 range lowest being 47.16. None of which is that far below 48.

The batteries were purchased from a Club Car dealer and are US Battery US8VGC XC . The cart gets plugged in every night and is on the charger for a minimum of 9-12 hours. They have been in service a little over a month so over 30 charges.

I did notice today even driving on level ground the cart does seem to have an intermittent hesitation and then go all out again sometimes even with the gas pedal all the way down. Its not a lot but it is noticeable now that im paying attention. Not enough to jerk the cart but i could tell. Maybe connected to the voltage being all over the place? Almost feels like the motor brake kicks in for a split second then lets go?

Talking Re: 04 Villager slows to a crawl on type of any incline

It was a combination of a bad MCOR and a worn MCOR shaft. Cart now flies at full speed, even on hills!
